Meet Stacey Swords of Aurora Blinds & Shutters.

As the Mornington Peninsula enters our second COVID-19 lockdown, it is more important than ever that we maintain the sense of connection our local community is famous for! This is where ‘Behind the Dreams’ comes in. We’ll be meeting our vibrant, local building and design industry professionals for 10 fun, quick-fire questions.

Meet Stacey Swords – Director of Aurora Blinds & Shutters, in Frankston South, Victoria.

Tell us about you! What brought you to the Mornington Peninsula?

Stacey: I grew up here on the Mornington Peninsula! I started this business when my youngest was 2 weeks old! Very accidental but its been the best ride ever. He is about to turn 12 so that’s exciting to see just how much I’ve achieved in the last 12 years.

How do you like to live?

Stacey: I’d love to be able to live a champagne lifestyle, however my husband is always there to pull me back into line & back to reality! We enjoy our busy family life as a Brady bunch of 6!

What’s the highlight of your working week?

Stacey: There is so many! I love seeing the end result after my fitters have been in & seeing how happy my customers are with everything.

Describe your business in 20 words 😉, no more!

Stacey: We create the WOW for your windows! Great customer service & after sales service. Honest & driven & love what I do.

What do you do on a Saturday?

Stacey: Ha! Pre-lock down, each Saturday would involve 1 x 8.15am tennis match 1 x 10.30am tennis match 1 x 9am netball game & an arvo basket ball match thrown in too! Summer time you can add a cricket game or 2! The joys of 4 kids. I also go out quoting every second Saturday.

What’s your favourite house or garden trend at the moment?

Stacey: Sheer curtains! Traditional exteriors with a modern twist.

Your proudest business moment?

Stacey: Buying the factory & creating the showroom! After 10 years of working from home & out of my car, it’s so good having my own work space!

What do you secretly wish clients knew?

Stacey: The workmanship that goes into custom made blinds, curtains or awnings – versus off the rack, stock standard ready to hang items.

If you were a house… which one would you be? And why?

A story book cottage with all the charm! There’s nothing better!

Thank you Stacey for sharing a bit about yourself with our Building Dreams community!
