As the Mornington Peninsula continues its second lockdown, it is more important than ever that we maintain the sense of connection our local community is famous for! This is where ‘Behind the Dreams’ comes in. We’ll be meeting our vibrant, local building and design industry professionals for 10 fun, quick-fire questions.
Glenn Longstaff – Director of GStruct Group, Redhill, Victoria.
Tell us about you! What brought you to the Mornington Peninsula?
Glenn: We purchased a holiday home in Tootgarook and just loved coming down on the weekends after a few years my family and I decided to make the Peninsula our home, we have been here for more than 10 years and have loved every minute.
How do you like to live?
Glenn: Work hard and play hard. If I am not working, I’m doing my best to keep fit and active. As well as taking every opportunity to head up the lake for some water skiing with the family.
What’s the highlight of your working week?
Glenn: Accomplishing major tasks on site is really gratifying as well as getting new leads for unique custom builds on the Mornington Peninsula. Cracking the top off a beer on a Friday night isn’t a bad way to finish the week either.
Describe your business in 20 words 😉, no more!
Glenn: Specialised high-end residential new builds, large-scale bespoke alterations and extensions. Providing an exceptional experience for both Architect, Designers and Clients.
What do you do on a Saturday?
Glenn: Saturdays mornings filled with kids sport after that I am off to my happy place Lake Eildon. As we are in covid times, I’m keeping busy around the house, working on my business and lots of walks with the family and dog. Occasionally finishing some evenings around our firepit toasting marshmallows with the kids.
What’s your favourite house or garden trend at the moment?
Glenn: Always have been a big fan of modern contemporary with a lot timber and/or off form concrete.
Your proudest business moment?
Glenn: I have been lucky enough to have worked on some amazing award winning projects both in town and on the Peninsula which I am most certainly proud of but my proudest moment was to take the step and start my own building company.
What do you secretly wish clients knew?
Glenn: That the cheapest builder is not always the right choice of builder, it can potentially cost them more in the long run.
If you were a house… which one would you be? And why?
Glenn: A solid custom well built home, because I come with good foundations and I am one of a kind.
